Dental implants

Missing teeth do more than just affect your confidence; they can also lead to more serious complications if left untreated. Every missing tooth increases your risk for infection, cavities and decay, and more teeth being lost in the future.

For these reasons, replacing teeth is so important. Dr Rammopo places quality dental implants to restore functionality and make your smile more aesthetically pleasing.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are replacement tooth roots that create a solid foundation for removable or permanent teeth. An implant is an excellent option for replacing missing teeth and restoring functionality and aesthetics to your mouth.

Am I a candidate for dental implants?

If you have lost one or more teeth, implants may be a great treatment option for you. To be eligible for dental implants, you need to be in good general and oral health and have healthy gums free from periodontal (gum) disease. Dr Rammopo will assess all these factors and discuss them with you.

The benefits of dental implants

  • Improved appearance and self-esteem: filling in missing teeth will make you look more attractive, giving you the confidence to smile.
  • Improved speech: Unlike dentures, implants allow you to speak without slurring.
  • Improved comfort: Implants eliminate the discomfort of dentures.
  • Easier chewing: Dental implants function very much like natural teeth, allowing you to eat your favourite foods without pain.
  • Improved general oral health: implants help prevent bone loss and gum disease
  • Durability: with proper care and strict hygiene, our implants can last many years.
  • Convenience: Dental implants are fixed restorations that do not need to be removed

Dental implant treatment

The implants are inserted into your jawbone underneath your gums and left to integrate with the bone. This provides stability for a crown to be placed on top of the implant. Once the area is healed, a ceramic crown is fabricated, which looks and feels right at home alongside your natural teeth.

Recovery takes around 2-3 months, depending on the patient's general oral health.
